Director In Hyeon Kim designated as a visiting and chaired Professor by Dalian and Shanghai Maritime University.
Professor In-Hyeon Kim, Honorary Professor at Korea University School of Law, was invited as a Visiting Professor at Dalian Maritime University and Shanghai Maritime University for three years respectively He delivered his English lecture at Dalian from November 26 to 28, 2024, and at Shanghai Maritime University from December 14 to 21, 2024. During his tenure, he delivered an intensive one-week lecture series in December, focusing on Korean maritime law and legal issues related to autonomous ships and the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The topics covered included Korean maritime law and regulations, marine insurance, shipbuilding law, maritime competition law, and the legal framework for autonomous vessels.
With these appointments, Professor Kim has been officially recognized as a Visiting Professor at both Dalian Maritime University and Shanghai Maritime University, further enhancing his international reputation in the field of maritime law.
Notably, Professor Kim is the first scholar to deliver a structured and comprehensive lecture on Korean maritime law and maritime regulations in English at a Chinese university. His lectures at China's two leading maritime institutions are expected to further elevate the status of Korean maritime law, shipping, and shipbuilding industries on the global stage.
Professor Kim's successive appointments as a Visiting and Chaired Professor at China's top maritime universities can be attributed to his longstanding academic collaboration with these institutions. Since 2008, Korea University School of Law has co-hosted the East Asia Maritime Law Forum for 15 years in partnership with Dalian Maritime University, Waseda University, and other institutions including Shangahi Maritime University .
