The 16th Korea University Maritime Law Expert Course Concluded Successfully.

The 16th Korea University Maritime Law Expert Course was held on December 23, 2023 (Monday) at the CJ Law Building of Korea University.

 

Professor Kim In-hyun, who declared the opening, introduced the 2023/2024 maritime law case studies, while Research Fellow Kim Won-gak presented the activities of the Maritime Law Research Center for 2024. Attorney Kim Kyu-hyun (Yulchon) gave a presentation on the case concerning the cancellation of the Fair Trade Commission’s fine against a Southeast Asian liner company. In a special session, the 2nd Offshore Wind Power Research Society discussed the current state and legal issues of offshore wind power, with presentations by Director Choi Deok-hwan (Korea Wind Energy Association) and Attorney Cho Hyun-ho (HA Energy). The following 2024 Maritime Arbitration Forum featured a presentation by Attorney Lee Kwang-hoo on arbitration cases related to private investment projects. The discussion was moderated by President Kwon Seong-won of the Korean Maritime Law Association and Attorney Yoon Ki-chang.

 

In the 6th Professor Choi Yi-sik Maritime Law Lecture, former Hyundai Heavy Industries CEO Ahn Kwang-heon shared his 45-year journey in the shipbuilding industry. He recounted stories such as the development of powerful engines and expressed his dream of combining shipbuilding and law to contribute to the growth of Korea’s shipbuilding industry.

 

Meanwhile, a roundtable discussion was held separately online on December 18.
